Bully Prevention
The Bully Prevention Program is designed to prevent bullying from occurring in the school by teaching children positive ways to resolve conflicts. When an incident of bullying occurs, the program requires that the child sign an agreement stating that he/she will refrain from bullying others.
Bullying: A student is bullied when he or she is exposed repeatedly and over time, to intentional negative actions on the part of one or more students when there is a relationship with an imbalance of power.
If a student does bully, a Bully Incident Report will be completed by the teacher and submitted to the Bully Prevention Committee. The following are the consequences of bullying:
1st offense: Phone call home, student signs a bully contract.
2nd offense: Meeting with representatives from Bully Prevention
Committee, letter sent home, detention.
3rd offense: Loss of privileges and/or extended detention until a meeting with parent and member of the Bully Prevention Committee takes place.
4th offense: After-School Alternative
5th offense: Suspension
Severe Clause: The consequence(s) of severe situations will be at the discretion of the principal.
