Character Awards
The goal of the program is to encourage and improve scholastic achievement through the basic values of ethical behavior. Each month a good character trait is presented to the children by their teachers. Each trait has a letter associated with the word Character. All students that demonstrate the trait for that month will be recognized with the childs name on a star being displayed on large letters in the hall. Parents are encouraged to reinforce the monthly themes at home through family behaviors and activities. The values for the character program are as follows:
C- Making good Choices-Sept
H- Honesty & Trustworthiness-Oct
A- Actions in services to others-Nov
R- Respect for myself and others-Dec
A- Actions of compassion & kindness-Jan
C- Carrying out Commitments-Feb
T- Teamwork-Mar
E- Encouraging others & building Esteem-Apr
R- Responsible and Reliable-May
Good Citizen Awards
Good citizen awards are distributed to students who demonstrate outstanding citizenship in the respective CHARACTER monthly theme. Two or three students from each class will be selected for the award each month. Each student who is honored with this award will receive a flag pin and a certificate of achievement. Students who receive a star on every month of the year, also receive a special pin and ribbon for recognition of their commitment to the CHARACTER program and Good Citizenship for the whole year.
