The Reading Achievement Center recommends a structured opportunity for our students to manipulate letters to create words. We have adopted the Harcourt Story Town language arts program that supports this practice.  The word building strategy offers the opportunity for children to blend letter sounds (decode), isolate letter sounds (encode) and write words, as well as strengthen/increase fluency.  Please click on the link for a more detailed example of this very powerful strategy.
